Our Friends Moved Up
The time we take to invest in others has the potential to help them move on to bigger and better. We are sad but thrilled for our friends – two special families – who made our homework club so enjoyable, but have moved up to new states, new schools and new opportunities for growth.
Generosity is a State of Heart
Our capital campaign New Home Fund has been running strong since early April raising funds for renovations of a new ministry house, our second location. We are nearing our $75K goal, and we’re reflecting on the big stories of generosity that have helped us get here!
From Donny Martin: Launching a New Location in the Hood

As I celebrate an incredible 15 years sober, my hope is to bless and encourage others by sharing the most meaningful things I’ve learned about living clean.
When Addiction Hits Home
This is a major theme in our counseling and addiction support. The past few months has had us fielding calls from more people than ever, and with bigger challenges. Parents who struggle with children in addiction can sometimes be the most heartbreaking scenario because there’s a unique, strong burden to help them thrive and keep them protected.
George's Story: Friend, Fighter, Loss
When we first bought our 42 House, George was one of the first people to visit, curious what we were doing there. I remember sharing with him in front of the dilapidated shell of a house that God loves to restore people. And just like how God was helping restore the house, He was calling us to help restore our neighbors too.

Get Your Hands Dirty, Do Some Reno
Located on the west side of Chester on one of the most challenged blocks in Chester, the 912 House is our second location that puts us with the most vulnerable in the city. The 912 House is, however, in uninhabitable condition and we’ve embarked on prayer meetings and demolition projects to prepare for the transformation this house deserves.

I Just Want to Live in a Place That's Clean for My Children, She Said
Our third community trash clean up day was just like the others… a unifying effort where almost every neighbor stepped outside to be involved, even folks we haven’t met yet. This unique time allows for everyone to have ownership over cleaning our street and opens the door to deep conversations and opportunities to pray together.
Like God Stories? Then You'll Love This
Have you ever had a date invitation that sounded like, “hey, wanna drive around Chester and pray over the ghetto areas and see if God will show us something?” Well... She said yes. Here’s a little back story… really a GOD story… of how Emily and I came to start our ministry Greenhouse Project.
How Lisa Changed Thousands of Lives, and Still Going
What is the value of a life changed? It’s profound to think of the impact a single person can have on an entire community, and beyond, when we consider how God can multiply His message and advance His kingdom through the way we invest in others. This one goes out to Lisa. Thank you, dear friend.
Why I'll Always Remember 9/22
While last Wednesday was just another day for most, I woke up with butterflies and wondered if anyone would show up. What if Homework Club flops? What if the students hate it? But God’s perfect peace came once we gave the whole First Day over to Him in prayer.

Last month, we shared a story that generated more hits to our website than any other article posted. It was a heartbreaking story of our friend Mike, a man trapped in and out of addiction throughout his lifetime. Where is he now? Take a look in this update.
