Update: Single Mom Who Lost Everything in House Fire

Last week we highlighted an urgent need for a real family in crisis that would benefit from Greenhouse Project resources.

Our neighborhood has recently suffered several major fires. One home was hit particularly hard–the home of a single mom with multiple kids and grandkids. The fire damage to their home made it uninhabitable. They’ve been displaced since late November.

When we heard their story, we learned the fire completely ruined all their belongings. Everything suffered smoke and water damage from roof to ceiling. Our team immediately provided temporary housing in a hotel while figuring out next steps. This was no small expense and–thanks to generous donations from supporters like you–it became possible to give them immediate support when the only option at the time was to live in a car!

Here’s what happened next:

We reached out to Chester’s License and Inspection Department after the landlord gave our friend, this single mom, an eviction notice because she was unable to pay December rent. This has turned into a total disaster.

Right now Greenhouse Project is trying to help her family move into a more permanent place and to replace the most necessary items lost. She is now staying with friends and her daughter and grandkids are safe as well. We are talking daily to help her with each step.

Can you imagine this happening to you–with no savings and no voice? She doesn't have the finances to pay first or last month’s rent, or the security deposit needed for a new place. We hope to use our connections to get her help with new places, new furniture, clothes and supplies.

Please stay tuned for a list of items needed and ways to help.

We have the power to make this Christmas special by giving the gift of hope, love and joy in a spirit of compassion and generosity. Want to be a big Christmas blessing for a real family in crisis? Reach out to us and give an extra gift today!
