Another tragedy for our Community. Monday December 4th may have started as a normal day, but it ended in tragedy. Just two blocks away, on 21st and Edgemont, a woman was fatally shot. The news said 25 bullet casing were found.

It was one of the first really cold, windy days this fall and people were bundled up in a long line outside 44House headquarters, expectant for practical provision of food with holiday cheer.

“I had never even heard of Chester. I didn’t know the challenges people face there or that it is one of the most dangerous cities in Pennsylvania and even in the United States.”

Several years ago I got a call about a man who was living in a garage. He was only six years old when he started smoking and nine when he started drinking alcohol.

It's odd for us to have a quiet peaceful day, most days are filled with cars whizzing down the street, sounds of sirens from emergency vehicles.

Early on in my life of ministry I would attend large gatherings and speak of events to hundreds or thousands of people. Yet at the end of the day I would go home by myself. Something was missing, and that something was family.

Everything seems to start again in the fall! As summer comes to a close we are so excited to start our full schedule of events and outreach with year 3 of a thriving Homework Club!

Several months in since the launch of our newest outreach for Greenhouse Project, and we are excited to share how God is working on the west side of Chester.

As summer is winding down and we look forward to much cooler temperatures - goodbye 100 degree weather! Our goal this school year is to raise money for 150 backpacks filled with school supplies by August 25 to bless local kids in need.

Prayer before serving is part of our ministry DNA, and was especially true for our first community clean-up around new ministry location 912House. A prayer and small trash walk, something like our ninth outreach like this but our first on the west side, brought some cool connections!
