Fall Programs - Come and Join Us!
Everything seems to start again in the fall! As summer comes to a close we are so excited to start our full schedule of events and outreach again. We want to particularly highlight our Homework Club as we start Year 3 and also make you aware of our regular schedule of programs. Please keep reading to learn more about each event and the different ways God has made us able to impact our community.
We’re gearing up for year 3 of Homework Club. It starts on Wednesday September 27 at 3:30 and is every Wednesday during the school year. This club is for 1st through 5th grade kids on our block and we have seen 7 regulars. This year it is looking like we might have so many kids we may need to set a cap based on space and volunteers.
What does our club look like? A high energy group of many new believers. Teachers and volunteers arrive at 3:30 to set up and pray. The kids arrive at 4 and stay for an hour and a half. If the kids have any homework we help tutor them with that. We also provide a snack with them, educational lessons and play games.
Why do we feel this club is so important? Rachelle Martin, our Homework Club co-leader, says we get “to continue to share the hope of Jesus with the kids and their families and nurture the discipleship relationships that began with the kids last year and watch them grow more and more into the men and women God created them to be!”
We know this group is making a difference. Rachelle said, “The fruit of the homework club is amazing! What started as just homework help has blossomed into discipleship relationships with the kids. Many of them have accepted Christ and we are in the process of nurturing this new found faith as they navigate a very transitional time [into teen years] in their lives.”
We want to see them improve in school subjects so they can be successful! And this club provides them with a way to excel, learn about Jesus, and give them a fun safe place to go during the week.
Rachelle is so excited because “These kids first just came to the Homework Club, now they drop by regularly to chat. They know they are loved and welcomed. This is the beauty of living where we serve! One boy has shown amazing growth since he accepted Jesus while at camp. Not only is his behavior different, he has been coming to Sunday morning church, asking about when discipleship starts again so he can "learn about the Lord" and this Sunday, he wanted to come to the second service too! Not only that, but he came early to help set up! He made spaghetti and meatballs with Pastor Donny.”
Some Prayer Requests for Homework Club
For the leaders and volunteers of the program to have wisdom from the Lord on how to nurture the new faith many of them have
For Rachelle Martin as the primary Bible study teacher to know what they need to hear and how best to present the hope of Christ to these kids
Other people will catch our vision and want to come alongside us and help volunteer/tutor
That these kids grow in their school studies so they can reach their full potential and make a life for themselves
For Jesus to go before and behind us, being the light to our feet, making our path straight and giving us wisdom
More kids would realize Jesus is REAL and He loves them and to lay down their little life to follow Him

Come Join Us!
As you can see we have a lot on our plate going into fall. This is the busiest time of the year for us. We are here to help people grow in difficult places and these are the doors that God has opened for us to serve and build relationships with those around us. People here need many different kinds of care but the most important need they have is Jesus Christ. That is why we are here - to share the gospel.
We are able to offer these things to the community because of you. Thank you for your prayers, you volunteered time, and your financial support. We need you and God is using your gifts to us to further His work in Chester.
