16 year Old Girl Shot on New Years Eve
In the busyness of daily life, the celebrations and resolutions that mark the start of a New Year may have already faded from our memories. But for a sixteen-year-old Chester resident, it’s a day that won’t easily be forgotten.
As the New Year's clock struck midnight on Clover Lane, just 250 feet away from one of our houses, a young woman was reportedly shot in the spine by a stray bullet that entered through her bedroom wall. She was then transported to Chester Crozer and is currently being treated. You can read the full DelcoTimes article here.
It’s heartbreaking to consider how this might change her life. Please join us in praying for her and her family. We pray that the young woman sustains no permanent injuries, and more importantly, that she encounters Jesus during this vulnerable time.
This is the very street where Pastor Donny and his wife Rachelle live in one of our ministry homes. There they serve the Clover Lane community in a variety of ways: they host a weekly food outreach, cut a neighbor’s grass, and regularly pick up street trash. While they fully trust God for their safety, this news is a reminder to all of us that the Chester community is in need. In need of peace, healing, and hope that only comes from knowing Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, “The gates of hell would not prevail against His Church” and we believe that wholeheartedly. Together with Pastor Donny and Rachelle, we are committed to the City of Chester! In light of this heartbreaking news, we have committed to doing EVEN MORE work to advance the Kingdom of God in the Clover Lane community. Pray for the family impacted and for us as we plan days for evangelism and additional outreach events to share the Good News.
