Kids Camp 2023
We are sending seven urban kids to camp this summer, and we need your help!
We just wrapped up our second full year of Homework Club. We started with one student, and quickly jumped up to 10 students, all from our block on 23rd street.
We’ve learned what has worked for our club and what does not. One thing we know for sure is we need to be connected with the kids throughout the summer, not just the school year. We need to keep engaging with our students. Last year we did not have summer activities to stay connected, so when the new school year came around we had to start a program over from scratch.
We want to keep our students engaged so we can continue their growth into the next school year. So we added a new summer activity: community cookout and Gospel Sharing. These three nights throughout the summer are all about relationship building with food, fellowship, music, preaching, activities for the kids, and baptisms.
But something was missing, like a summer camp. But who in Chester can afford that? Some of my best summer experiences have been activities, camps or vacation Bible schools. It always helps when children have memory building experience and activities to fortify the Gospel.
This is why we are so excited about Inspire Sports Camp.
What is this camp about? Inspire Sports Camps (ISC) has a vision of “transforming cities one camper at a time.”
ISC is a gospel-focused summer sleep-away sports camp experience for young people from inner-cities across the Northeast USA. The goal of ISC is to provide our underserved population of campers with a fun filled week of activities and most importantly of hearing the Gospel.
Each day is packed with high-quality sports training in basketball, soccer, dance, and includes activities like hiking, fishing, and high adventure. Each night, they bring in bands, DJ's, and dynamic speakers/ athletes who lay out a different aspect of the Gospel and show Christ’s love to the kids.
This is what our students need! Camp is fast approaching the week of June 25-30. But we need to raise support to send them and be ready to nurture them when they return.
What’s our follow up plan? We plan to have regular opportunities and activities for our students to get in the Bible and hear the preaching of God's Word. We will do that with Thursday night cookouts and Sunday church. But we regularly need volunteers to help us.
How can you support? Pray, serve and give. Only $115 covers a child for a week of camp! Yes, that’s it, only $115 gets one local student, who lives on our block, the opportunity to get out in nature, play sports, and most importantly learn more about Jesus.
This camp, or our homework club, might be the only place where a student is hearing the Gospel. We believe life changes with salvation, and we hope these students will get saved and reach their own families!
Thank you for your prayers and support.
