Why Mike Volunteers with Us
Sometimes it takes just doing what you already love to do and pushing it in a slightly new direction to make a huge impact for others. One of our most faithful volunteers this season has been Mike. He’s been giving us his time and truck to help pick up food that gets delivered to local families struggling to make ends meet. Why does Mike do it? He says, “I started with an ask to help pick up food for a few families that didn't have anything for Thanksgiving. But I stayed on, and now I pick up a few times a week. Since December we have been bringing over 1,000 pounds of food a week to Chester. I love that Greenhouse Project is looking to help families and senior centers. It’s now part of my routine.”
You guys. If you’ve been following our video clips on social, you’ve seen Mike’s beast of a pickup truck! With a little extra time carved out of his week and a truck he already loves to drive, Mike brings full truck loads of fresh food to our neighbors. We tell him in person, and we will say it here again… THANK YOU, MIKE for your willingness to help and showing up with a smile each time. We love you and our neighbors do too!
